How to Make a Delicious Latte with a Moka Pot

Brewing the perfect latte at home is a lot easier than you think! You dont need a trip to Starbucks, a frother or even an espresso machine to create a latte experience like no other. All you need is a moka pot, a jar with a secure lid, your favorite La Vela Coffee roast in espresso (fine) grind and your milk of choice.

To make the coffee you need to open the moka pot and fill the bottom part with water. Fill it until it reaches the screw, careful not to overfill. Next, fill the filter with the grounded espresso beans, and smooth it out on the top, but don’t press it. Tighten the moka pot together and set it on your stove. Keep the temperature on high until the coffee starts pouring out on the top part of the moka pot. Remove from heat once the coffee starts coming out with foam.

As the coffee brews, you can start frothing some milk. Pour a cup of milk into a jar, you can also add sweetener, then tighten lid. Shake the jar vigorously for about a minute, or until the milk starts to look frothy and thicker. Next, put jar in microwave for about thirty seconds to warm up the milk. Keep an eye out for the milk not to overflow!

To serve, Pour the espresso to a heat proof mug, then slowly pour the desired amount of milk, followed by spooning some of the foam to your drink. Then add any sweetener, cinnamon or syrup and enjoy!

The beauty of making your latte at home is that you can use or order your favorite fresh coffee beans, like La Vela! You can try different roasts and give each coffee and its flavor notes a try. Also, you can make this an iced latte. Just add ice to the cup and blend with the drink!  Enjoy making your favorite drinks at home and entertain yourself with a new coffee experience.
